De legendarische Shure SM57 microfoon is een topmicrofoon die inzetbaar is op vele fronten. Hij is bijvoorbeeld prima geschikt om versterkte instrumenten op te nemen, maar de microfoon is ook te gebruiken om een heldere weergave te geven van drum en percussie. Door het cardioide karakter reduceert u bovendien het achtergrond geluid, het meeste geluid wordt namelijk opgenomen aan de voorzijde van de microfoon terwijl er aan de zijkant van de microfoon maar heel weinig geluid opgevangen wordt.
